How can people think like this?

So tonight, as I was waiting for the play (Paper Wheat) I couldn't help but over hear a conversation that was going on behind me. It was happening between a few un-named preppy girls that go to the comp. This is how it went:
Girl one-"Girl, we have to find you a boy"
Girl two-" I know, I was thinking about ______, but I realized he is way to low for me"
Girl three- "Oh my god, I would never let you date him, you are way to good for him!"
Girl two- " Yah, I know I don't know what I was thinking"
Girl one-(not joking voice) "He is like Vanilla ice cream and you are like Neapolitan"
Girl Two- "Yah, He is like one plain ice cream cone and I am like 10 Waffle Cones"
Girl Three-"So, who could you go out with?"
Girl Two-"I don't know, but he has to be popular"
Girl One- "obviously"

I mean sure I have seen girls talk like that in movies or when they are just kidding around, but these bitches were dead serious. Like how can you seriously consider yourself so much better than other people. It was so pathetic.Shallow beyond belief! If we had any high bridges or extremely tall buildings in Camrose I would have strongly suggested that they each jump off them! But since we don't I can only hope that they all get hit by cars.Liz, out.
