couples make me sick

I have finally realized just how sickening couples are when they are together. With all their lovey-doveyness, and their giggling and play fighting.....grose. I mean do they not realize that their might be people around that just don't want to see that? Huh? Huh? Don't they? Maybe they could just think for a second about those around them, especially when they know that one of those people around them is miles and miles and miles away from her boyfriend. Even when couples just look at each other with that sweet-honey-coated longing glazed over their eyes.....its just like ugg get a room, and thats just a look, i'm starting to cope with couples at parties - i mean who can blame them when they are drunk, but dont even get me started on the snogging in the middle of the canteen at college....i mean come on! Ugg..I used to be all-for P.D.A.s, I'd think "Awwwwww thas cute," but now I just want to walk straight between them and ruin it!

P.S. sorry to those of you who had to endure time spent with me and callum together, i now know how awful it must have been.....and i'll apologize again because i know you will have to continue enduring it when i come back home. Liz, out.

i miss you more than i should, than i thought i could - reprise

Okay so i'm now thousands of miles away from everyone i consider close to me.....wow it is tough. Im a very social girl, and i really need face-to-face communication with people, its just the only way things really work. When you have no choice but to use MSN or phones (once in a while) to talk to the ones you love, it really sucks. I think if i just has someone from home with me...any one that was familiar i'd be alright, but being totally alone is...well lonely! I mean its not like i havn't made friends at school, my friends are cool and stuff..but i dont have the kind of friends that i can just call up on a saturday and be like "i'm coming over....deal?"....and i miss that! O well, hopefully that will change soon. cheerio, Liz out.

The escapades of a friend of mine

So those of you who have been faithful readers of this site will remember that i absolutely love Ewan MacGregor, and i'll just put it out there right now, I think Jessica Alba is gorgeous, and talented.

So now your prolly wondering "Hmpff...why the fuck do i care?"....well this is the amazing part; My friend Bee is cute and ginger and i love her alot...well she went to this audition over the summer where she got to sing opposite none other than EWAN MACGREGOR!!! They sang two duets from Moulin Rouge! Come What May and the Elephant Love Medley. When she told me this my jaw was already on the floor, but theres more.....

SHE GOT THE PART!.....and not just any part...THE LEAD ROLE in an upcoming film called Element costarring Jessica Alba and Ewan Macgregor, its not a musical it just has one random song, thats why she had to sing at the audition. The filming has been delayed by 6 months because it is in competition with another film and all that jazz...but WOW i am friends with a girl that is going to be in a "face on the side of a bus" HUGE movie!!!

WOW. so jealous! but she is one of those ppl that is just so sweet that she deserves it! And she is all hyper and crazy like me, its swell. So all of you at home reading this you now have only 2 degrees of seperation between Jessica Alba and Ewan Macgregor!! nifty huh? Liz out.

song of the month

this song is very ME right now, and i love it!...so give it a read, and then a listen.

MICHAEL BUBLE LYRICS

"Home"

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

Maybe surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

YEEEEAH its a gooder!

ooo i just watched an interview with Daniel Radcliffe....he still got it! I LOVE HIM! we are going to be married. Liz, out.

Burial at Thebes

So last week some of my classic civilizations class took a trip to Nottingham (yes, the city in Robin Hood! hehe) Playhouse to see a rendition of Antigone, called Burial at Thebes.

It was really, really good! I dont know if you know the story of Antigone but it really is a good one! I would explain it, but i am still confused about bits of it and it would prolly be wiser just to look it up on wikipedia haha.

Wow though it was so fascinating! I love greek plays because they can be seen so in so many lights! The director has so much artistic freedom! This director used it wisely! The chorus was so creative - they were all wearing these really loose cloaks that they throught off, or were pulled out of when ever they spoke alone, it was just so neat! I'd love to see a different version cause i guarantee it would be so different, but it could be completely contrasting but equally entertaining.

Ok you know that voice that you always relate to ancient greece? Like the really atmospheric wordless singing that is always played at some point in movies like troy or gladiator? Well at least i think it is cause thats what it makes me think of... Why is it always associated with the ancient world? is there a reason, cause my classics teacher, Liz (teehee we're name twins), says she doesnt know why, and i cant find it on the internet.

Okay well pointless blog that no one can relate too, sorry guys. Liz,out.

Wicked

So when i was in London last month i went to see Wicked performed at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. WOW! It was so incredibly beyond incredible! if you ever get the chance to see the show, particularly with the london cast, DO IT! Best theatrical piece i have ever seen. Its a musical based on the untold story of the witches of Oz. Here is my favorite song, i sing it daily (by the way Galinda is the good witch, and Elpheba is the wicked witch of the west):

GALINDA:
(Spoken)
Elphie, now that we're friends, i've decided to make you my new project!

ELPHABA:
(Spoken)
you really don't have to do that...

GALINDA:
(Spoken)
i know, that's what makes me so nice!

(Sung)
whenever i see someone less fortunate than i,
and let's face it, who isn't less fortunate than i?
my tender heart tends to start to bleed.
and when someone needs a makeover,
i simply have to take over!
i know i know exactly what they need!

and even in your case,
though it's the toughest case i've yet to face,
don't worry, i'm determined to succeed!
follow my lead,
and yes indeed, you will be...

POPULAR! you're gonna be popular!
i'll teach you the propper ploys,
when you talk to boys,
little ways to flirt and flounce, ooh!
i'll show you what shoes to wear!
how to fix your hair!
everthing that really counts to be...

POPULAR! i'll help you be popular!
you'll hang with the right cohorts,
you'll be good at sports,
know the slang you've got to know.
so let's start,
'cause you've got an awfully long way to go!

don't be offended by my frank analysis,
think of it as personality dialysis,
now that i've chosen to become a
pal, a sister and advisor,
there's nobody wiser!
not when it comes to...

POPULAR! i know about popular.
and with an assist from me,
to be who you'll be,
instead of dreary who you were...uh, are.
there's nothing that can stop you,
from becoming popular... lar...

la la, la la!
we're gonna make you pop-u-lar!

when i see depressing creatures,
with unprepossessing features,
i remind them on their own behalf
to - think - of
celebrated heads of state,
or specially great communicators!
did they have brains or knowledge?
don't make me laugh!

they were POPULAR!
please! it's all about popular.
it's not about aptitude,
it's the way you're viewed,
so it's very shrewd to be,
very very popular like ME!

(Spoken)
why, miss Elphaba, look at you. you're beautiful!

ELPHABA:
(Spoken)
i, i have to go...

GALINDA:
(Spoken)
you're welcome...

(Sung)
and though you protest,
your disinterest,
i know clandestinly,
you're gonna' grin and bear it!
you're new found popularity!
ah!

la la, la la!
you'll be popular!
just not quite as popular as ME!

Yeah this song makes me laugh! I would die for the part of Galinda, if i could ding that is lol. Liz, out.

Red, Black and Ignorant

Okay so we have this drama project and we were given an exerpt from a script to work with, and i really enjoyed it so i am going to post it for you all to read. Its from the play Red, Black, and Ignorant ...i dont know the rest of the play, but based on this piece its promising:

MONSTER:

Alone of creatures we know that we pass between birth and death.
And wish to teach each new mind to be as profound as a crystal ocean through which we may see the ocean bed and from shore to shore.

We speak of our children before they are born.
Carry them before we can hold them.
Fold their clothes and lay their beds before they can eat.
For them we build streets before they can walk.
And guard them from sickness before they can draw breath.
For three seasons they grow in the womb while the world may age ten thousand years.
When they are born the hands of mechanics, housekeepers, masons, pilots, designers, administrators, drivers, gardeners, are held together to recieve them.
No exiled hero could return to a land more welcoming.
No president be received into office with such preperation.
No victor be greeted with so much joy.
We should not wonder that in the past children though the world was watched over by gods.

But now we kill them.

the MOTHER comes on

MOTHER:

In the past there were survivors to tell that suddenly the world became a place of toys.
A huge red ball inflated the sky.
Houses shook as dolls' houses shake when they're carried by children.
Small things became big and big things vanished.
Many reported that the cloud glowed like a bonfire.
And that the wounded babbled in the strange toungues spoken by children when they pretend to be foreigners.

I did not see or hear these things
I sat alone in my room
That morning the child had moved in my womb as if it wanted to run away from the world.
Through the womb's walls it had felt the world's fear.
Now my head was bent ad i listened
I was so intent i did not hear the explosions and passed into death without knowing.
My body's spasm crushed the child
My flesh burst open and threw him into the furnace of my burning house.

The MONSTER sits on the bench beside his mother

MONSTER:

When the rockets destroyed the world everything whistled
Mouths of medicine bottles and whiskey bottles
Cornices of law courts and office blocks
Cracks in rocks
Whistled in derision
As the tyres stoppes screeching the winds whistled in the broken windows
Doors and wheelchairs - some empty, others carrying sick and maimed - whistled as they flew high over the great plains
The mountains whistled
The last breaths whistled from dead mouths
And as the flesh burned from faces the skulls whistled
Surfaces too soft to whistle burned and the fires whistled
The heart leapt like a bird in its burning cage and the ribs whistled
The earth whistled in derision
In final derision at the lord of creation
In derision derision
That drowned the sounds of explosions and the last screams of the world's masters
The whole earth whistled in derision at the lord of creation

MOTHER:This is the child my womb threw into the fire

WOAH!!!hey? its all like WTF, but in a good way. Liz,out.

quote

diggin this quote :

In the water, whales have become the dominant species
Without killing their own kind.

In the water, whales have become the dominant species
Though they allow the resources they use to renew themselves.

In the water, whales have become the dominant species
Though they acknowledge minds other than their own

In the water, whales have become the dominant species
Without allowing their population to reach plague proportions

From space, the planet is blue
From space, the planet is the territory
Not of humans, but of the whale.

I dont know who said this origionally, i heard it from my sociology teacher, Adrian Wright. I love that statement though, SO thought provoking! Adrian is really great too, mostly cause hes a greeny that does more than talk! Hes bikes to school every morning and has alot of enlightening ideas. Liz, out.

Happy Easter to EVERYONE THAT READS THIS

I miss you more than I should, than i thought i could

I leave in three months people, three months! its rather exciting, nerve-racking, but exciting none the less. No jokes, the thing that i am most scared about is making friends....I've never moved, or switched schools all by myself....i've never really had to make new friends. What if i end up spending all my time alone, by myself, like a little hermit that everyone pokes with sticks. EEK! What if i get so lonely and boring that i take up world of warcraft!!!! NEVER. I would never sink that low. Thank god! I'm also scared that everyone is going to change alot when i'm gone and when i'll get back they'll be like, "Who's that?!" and poke me with sticks. THREE MONTHS!!!!! But think of all the wonderfulness that will come to me. yes, wonderfulness....i said it, WHAT? Well i'm sorry you had to endure this pointless blah blah blah kind of blog. cheerio (I officially have to say that now, being a brit and all). P.S. the song lyrics that are in the title of this blog are from an AMAZING song, i dont remember its name though, find out and download it!

thats heavy, man.

And now i pose, to you, a question; i don't expect i will believe your answer no matter what it is, for i don't think anyone can truly answer it with complete certainty: IS THERE A GOD?

Through out my life i have been mostly agnostic, my entire family is athiest, but i, clearly, have pondered faith and religion on several occasions. I don't know very much about any particular religion so i don't believe it is possible to commit myself to believing in any one god.

On Thursday afternoon, at about 1pm, something happened that made me believe there is a greater being. My older sister, Stephanie, was driving home from town as usual. She wasn't exceeding the speed limit or driving in a rechless manner. When she reached the intersection at the junction she had the green light, so obviously she kept driving. But the semi with two full length trailers, turning left, hadn't seen her. She slammed on the brakes and listened to the squealing of the tires. She watched as she got closer and closer and closer to the moving semi before she drove head on into the tire base located between the two trailers. Though her truck is now completely totalled, she got out with just a minor bump on her head. If she would have made contact a second earlier, she would undoubtedly be dead, a second later, she would undoubtedly be dead. So who was guiding her truck to hit that spot? That one spot that kept her alive? Who saved my sisters life on thursday afternoon? that is the question i pose for you.

When i asked my mother this she said "If there was a god, the truck wouldn't have turned in the first place." I refuse to believe that is true. I dont know why, i just find it hard to believe.
Liz, out.

Who's life is this?

I look in the mirror
and see my mothers eyes, and nose.
Her expectations and dissappointments.
My father's crooked teeth
I see shoulders that are stooped
by his wasted money and dying farm.
I see a few extra pounds here and there
that promise no spot on a magazine cover.
Legs that aren't quite fast enough to
make the school track and field team.
There is a report card in that mirror too,
a few percent lower than me sister's (the
one that shared my chin).
Eyes that flash with fleeting ambitions,
ambitions that belong more to my
parents than me.
Ears that weep with terrible secrets.
I watch as the reflection releases
a deep sigh, her mother's eyes swelling
up like water balloons in the reflection's childhood.
I hear whispers of painful memories
within the deep sigh.
There are pictures of old friends.
Friends that can't be reached by
the outstretched arms in the mirror.
Friends that chose strange adventures,
their reflections differ greatly from
the one I see before me.
I see a nametag, written in the handwriting
of my peers. What does it read?
Dramaqueen, Nerd, Prep, I'm yours to name.
Who's life is this?
It can't belong to me.
Before i could even speak grabby hands reached into the mirror
and sculpted me into what I now see.
This girl i see before me,
she has an identity,
you all know her,
but she's not there.

I had to write a essay on the burdens i face on the route to discover my identity, i wrote a poem instead. It's pretty poorly written, so i'm sorry. But it is really true and now that i published it i feel naked. Liz out.

song of the week

Amos LEE

"Black River"

Woah, black river,
gonna take my cares away.
Woah, black river,
gonna take my cares away.
Gonna take my cares,
gonna carry my cares,
gonna take my care away.
Gonna take my cares,
gonna carry my cares,
gonna take my care away.

Woah, dear saviour,
gonna take my cares away.
Woah, dear saviour,
gonna take my cares away.
Gonna take my cares,
gonna carry my cares,
gonna take my care away.
Gonna take my cares,
gonna carry my cares,
gonna take my care away.

Woah, sweet whiskey boy,
c'mon,
gonna take my cares away.
Woah, sweet whiskey boy,
you're gon,
you're gonna take my cares away.
Gonna take my cares,
gonna carry my cares,
gonna take my care away.
Gonna take my cares,
gonna carry my cares,
gonna take my care away.

You're gonna take my bottle, my bible, my mess.
You're gonna take all of my empty and my lonelyness.
Gonna take all of the sadness inside of me,
gonna take it all and set me free.

Woah, black river,
gonna take my cares away.

When i first heard this song i thought it said "take my KIDS away", i'm not gonna lie. But it is killer.Liz out
