The Bald Soprano
I went to see The Bald Soprano, the play at the Composite High School put on last week, and it was absolutely phenomenal! The play was written by Eugene Ionesco while he was learning the
English language. The almost inexistent storyline is incredibly bizarre and random, a.k.a. my cup of tea. lol. Jen Lindstrand directed it and did an incredible job. If last night wasn't closing, I would strongly recommend you go see it. It was fascinating, I thought about it for hours afterwards...Well obviously I am still thinking about it. At first the entire play seemed kind of meaningless...But when you dig a little deeper there is a strong message. The script subtly (And not so subtly) describes many faults in the English language, and culture. How we are all SO similar, or appear that way...And things that don't matter at all are SO important to us. If that makes sense. The play was very well cast and the entire cast did an incredible job. The characters were very unusual and would be difficult to become. I also have to commend the cast for learning all those lines, its not that there was a lot to learn, its just with a script as random as The Bald Soprano its very hard to remember which line goes where... Because your cue line rarely gives you an actual clue as to what to say. The first off-book stages I am sure were memorable. But the product was spectacular, spectacular. Chow. Liz out.
